(reference: Merriam Webster Dictionary: on line)
Blair offers a training or development in which a person called a coach supports a learner in achieving a specific personal or professional goal. The learner is sometimes called a coachee. Occasionally, coaching may mean an informal relationship between two people of whom one has more experience and expertise than the other and offers advise and guidance as the latter learns; but coaching differs from mentoring in focusing on specific tasks or objectives, as opposed to general goals or overall development. (reference: Navigator Coaching LLC) Coaching does not involve the diagnosis or treatment of any mental or physical disorders. Coaching is not a substitute for counseling, psychotherapy, psychotherapy, psychoanalysis, mental health care or substance abuse treatment and should not be used in place of any form of diagnosis, treatment, or therapy. It is encouraged for the coachee to seek independent professional guidance for legal, medical, financial, business, spiritual or other matters. Coaching is a comprehensive process that may involve discussion of and decisions concerning all areas of life, including work, finances, health, relationships, education, and recreation. The coachee can choose to discontinue coaching at any time. Any information which I may receive as the coach will be held confidential, unless I state otherwise, in writing, and except as you may. be required by law to disclose.
